Configure EUM Group to require Approval for joining

Users can join EUM Groups of Public or Private types without needing an invitation.

Private groups are the ones which are not displayed in the EUM Portal. Someone having link to the Join Page of the Private Group can join by click of a button, without the help of an EUM Administrator.

Public Groups ate the ones displayed in EUM Admin and anyone can join these groups by click of a button, without the help of an EUM Administrator.

However, in some scenarios, as an EUM Administrator, you might want to control who joins the groups, though you might want the users to self register. This can be done by putting ON the Approval path for the Private or Public Groups. Whenever a user joins these groups, an Approval Email will be sent to the EUM Manager, Group Owner, or Group Membership Manager.

Pre-Requisite

Office365 API Connection must be authorized for EUM to be able to send notifications. Please refer to the related FAQ article Authenticate EUM to send Email Notifications.

Steps to Setup Group Join Approval

1. Login to the EUM Admin and navigate to the group that needs Approval to be configured. Click Search Groups in the left hand menu, and click on the concerned group displayed in the Group Search Results
   
2. Navigate to the Join Page tab within the Group Details page
   
3. Put ON the Approvals toggle and click Save
